Bailiff's Cottage is situated on Exmoor in the National Park. Local amenities including a shop, garage and pub are 2 miles away at the village of Wheddon Cross, near to which lie Snowdrop Valley and Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor.


Dunster, with its castle and medieval yarn market is 8 miles away and just beyond, 11 miles from the cottage, is the seaside town of Minehead with a full range of shops and facilities and the popular Somerset Steam Railway. Porlock "the Jewel in Exmoor's Crown" and Porlock Weir are a few miles further along the spectacular North Devon coast before one then comes to the picturesque Lynton and Lynmouth with their gorge and the National Trust Watersmeet estate.


The quaint town of Dulverton, the Gateway to Exmoor and the home of the National Park Authority, is 9 miles to the south, with the ancient clapper bridge at Tarr Steps nearby.


Also within easy reach are the sandy beaches of Woolacombe and Saunton, and a number of National Trust properties including Knightshayes, and RHS Rosemoor.
